jANUARY 2013 BAY VIEW SHOPPING CENTer, COLWYN BAY
We held a very succesful public exhibition in the Bay view held over two days. We had over 400 people pass though our doors to view the project boards and to sign up as volunteers, pier plas members and offer their services.
We had the Pioneer, North Wales Weekly, BBC radio and an interview on ITV Wales including director Charlton Price, Heritage consultant Ian Parking which also featuried Penarth Pier!
We plan to helod these events every few months this year with the kindness of the Bay View Shopping center. Our project boards are also up to view in the center daily but they will be unmanned.
Thank you for all who came and all who are behind our giant project!
You can catch the interview on our VIMEO channel vimeo.com/pierpressure
May 2012 National Pier Society AGM Visit
We were invited by the chair of the National Pier Society to put on a presentation about the VPPG / ShoreThing project.
Needlesless to say we jumped at the chance and with some assistance from our local communities first coordinator we were able to put together the project boards from the public consultation in Colwyn Bay at the end of last year and beautiful photographic records of Victoria Pier.
Visit the National Pier Society website: http://www.piers.co.uk
From the individuals that attended the meeting we were heart warmed with the words and thoughts of support for our local pier. We were thankful to have the opportunity to show the vision to such a society
The NPS agreed that Victoria Pier needs local public support. See the article on the NorthWales Weekly News http://www.northwalesweeklynews.co.uk/conwy-county-news/local-conwy-news/2012/05/17/colwyn-bay-pier-needs-public-support-55243-30983148/

November 2011 Public Consultation
We arranged a public consultation which we held in the Bay View Shopping Centre, a shop was kindy donated for this purpose. We were there for 2 days talking with the public about what they wanted for the pier and what they felt would be needed on the pier to sustain it.
In the evening we also held a youth event to see what younger people felt the pier should represent and what they would want on the pier.
By holding this event it gave us key information which was used to aid the Heritage Lottery Fund bid application submitted in December 2011.
This consultation was supported by the Welsh Government, Conwy County Borough Council, Colwyn Bay Town Council and RWE (Wind Farm)
Each of our Public Consultation boards which were on view are available via links below.
They are PDF files that you can look at online.

May 2011 Colwyn Bay Prom Day
We attended the very succesful promday although it was rather windy at the communities end of the promenade which made the sea come over the railings but it was all very much in the spirit of the day.
